2024 VMAS Cornhole Tournament

This year was madness as over 70 guests joined us to enjoy Cornhole, Blackjack, and March Madness at Kettering VFW Post 9927.

This year's tournament saw growth in every measurable category. Attendance was up 40%, sponsorship increased 500%, and revenue more than doubled!! In attendance this year we welcomed students, alumni, Wright State faculty, local VSO reps, business owners, and more. In keeping with our family-friendly goal, our guests brought a lot of family members this year who were able to enjoy hot food, cold drinks, and plenty of activities to keep them busy while our tournament took place. It was a packed house, and we couldn't have been happier!

We had plenty of items to raffle off this year thanks to some generous donors. Raffle items included; Annual Boonshoft passes, Dayton Dragons tickets, Cincinnati Reds tickets, Sebastian Maniscalco tickets, Freedom Whiskey, plenty of gift cards, and more. To provide even more value to our guests, we played a little blackjack to give away over $700 in 'Rooster's Bucks' from BC Roosters.

The double-elimination tournament saw some new and returning teams, with players across generations and skill levels coming together for an afternoon of competition. Play continued for 2 hours until our first sets of teams were eliminated. As the crowd size decreased, the competitiveness between our remaining teams increased. After a little over four hours we crowned a champion, with one of last year's winners taking home the top prize again.

We have a LOT of people to thank this year. First, thank you to everyone who participated in this year's event. We were SOLD OUT and it was all because of you. A special thanks to the VFW staff for cooking over 70 hot meals and pouring more than 150 cold drinks. We also want to thank our team of volunteers for keeping the event moving efficiently for our guests. A final thank you goes out to our sponsors and donors who provided even more value to those in attendance. Keep an eye on our events page for next year's tournament, which will take place during March Madness in 2025.
