On May 14th a few members of the VMAS Executive Committee, Ken Folino (Vice President) and Paul Fleischman (Treasurer), joined over 150 volunteers to help frame two houses for deserving families. VMAS teamed up with multiple other group organizations including Boy Scout Troop 55, Northmont and Troy Christian High schools, Englewood Rotary, and many more to support Englewood United Methodist Church’s (UMC) annual partnership with Help Build Hope. This year’s volunteers framed two houses that will be delivered to deserving families where they will be constructed on site but another group of volunteers.
One house will be constructed in the Springfield area and the other is heading to Morgan County, Indiana. Englewood UMC not only provided the site location for the builds but also provided breakfast, cookies, and fresh fruit throughout the build. The build concluded with hot dogs and pizza for lunch. The entire process from start to finish was completed and cleaned up in less than six hours. Participants ranged in age from 6-month-old (sole job was to supervise) to folks well into their 80s. The weather couldn’t have been better, and everyone had a great time. The VMAS team is hoping to support this event on an annual basis. If there are similar events that you a participate in and would like our support, please reach out as we are trying to become more visible in the community now that the worst of the pandemic is behind us!
